The Shift to Agentic AI Part 2: Enter LangGraph - Meet "The Boss"

LangChain is a fantastic tool for connecting these AI models and triggering outside tools like web searches. To be fair, LangChain can easily handle minor hiccups like fixing formatting issues or correcting small typing mistakes in code on its own. However, LangChain is strictly an "Obedient Manager." It only follows the exact, straight path you code for it. If a major unexpected error occurs—like a website blocking a tool—LangChain simply stops. It does not know how to pivot or make dynamic decisions on its own.
The Missing Link: Enter "The Boss" Real-world projects don't move in a straight line. They require U-turns, adapting to errors, and trying new approaches. You (the CEO) shouldn't have to step in to fix every minor roadblock.
To achieve true autonomy, the creators of LangChain built an advanced system: LangGraph. If LangChain is your tool-handling Manager, LangGraph is "The Boss." It sits right below you and has the supreme power to command both the Manager (LangChain) and the AI brains (LLMs) directly.
How LangGraph Controls the System LangGraph manages the workflow using three core concepts:
