Apple Signs $1 Billion Gemini Deal to Replace Siri With Google AI

Apple announced a $1 billion partnership with Google to embed the Gemini large‑language model into its Siri voice assistant, ending internal development of a proprietary AI engine and signaling a strategic shift toward external AI sourcing.

Google will provide the Gemini model, which powers its own search and cloud services, and will collaborate with Apple’s software teams to integrate the technology across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch platforms, targeting a rollout later this year.

Siri is expected to gain faster natural‑language understanding, expanded multilingual capabilities covering over 30 languages, and more contextual responses that draw on real‑time data, aiming to close the performance gap with rivals such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Industry analysts say the deal could reshape the mobile AI market by giving Google a foothold inside Apple’s ecosystem while Apple bets on proven external AI to accelerate its roadmap, potentially influencing pricing, privacy policies and future competition.
