NASA Roman Space Telescope Passes Flight Readiness Review Ahead of Falcon Heavy Launch

NASA announced the Roman Space Telescope has successfully passed its flight readiness review, confirming that all critical systems, including optics, detectors, and communications, meet the required performance standards for launch.

Falcon Heavy will serve as the launch vehicle, carrying the 2.4‑meter telescope from Cape Canaveral, with the rocket having completed its own qualification tests and slated for liftoff later this year.

Mission scientists expect the observatory to map dark energy, locate thousands of exoplanets, and conduct infrared surveys, offering a field of view about 100 times larger than Hubble’s and extending the legacy of space telescopes.

Data from the mission will be processed at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and released to the global scientific community through open archives, enabling researchers worldwide to access images and measurements shortly after collection.
