Wind and Solar supplied 22% of the nation’s power in the first half of 2026, according to Environment America’s new forecasts, showing a steady rise in clean energy output across the country and a 4% increase over the previous year.

Trump attempted to roll back renewable incentives, yet the sector continues to expand, as Environment America notes that wind and solar growth persists despite political setbacks, with new federal subsidies and state mandates boosting installations nationwide.

Vineyard Wind 1 and Sunrise Wind projects have released final and draft environmental impact statements, respectively, underscoring federal support for offshore wind development, projecting 2.5 GW of new capacity by 2035 and creating thousands of jobs in coastal communities.
