China Accelerates Recycling of Solar Panels, Wind Turbines and EV Batteries

China announces a new program to expand recycling of solar panels, wind turbine components and electric‑vehicle batteries, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, reported by Global Times. The plan targets the growing waste stream from renewable projects.

Ministry of Ecology and Environment says the initiative will build additional processing plants, improve collection networks and introduce stricter standards for material recovery, aiming to boost the reuse rate of valuable metals and reduce landfill disposal.

Global Times reports officials expect the recycling drive to support China’s carbon‑neutral goals by cutting the environmental impact of decommissioned renewable assets and securing domestic supplies of critical components for future clean‑energy projects.

Renewable sector analysts note that expanding recycling capacity could create new jobs, lower material costs and help China manage the surge in installed solar and wind capacity that now supplies a significant share of national electricity.
