India Introduces Two New Budget Schemes to Empower Divyangjan Through Technology and Skills

Union Budget announces two fresh initiatives aimed at Divyangjan empowerment, named Divyang Sahara Yojana and Divyang Jan Kaushal Yojana, allocating dedicated funds and policy support as part of the 2026‑27 financial plan.

Divyang Sahara Yojana will streamline delivery of assistive technology, coordinating with state agencies and NGOs to reach both rural and urban users, emphasizing affordable devices, repair services, and a national distribution network, per the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Divyang Jan Kaushal Yojana emphasizes skill training over subsidies, offering vocational courses, entrepreneurship mentorship, and guaranteed job placement for persons with disabilities, with implementation partners including industry bodies and training institutes, as highlighted in a BW People analysis.

Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to dignity, access and opportunity for Divyangs on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, linking the new schemes to the broader Viksit Bharat 2047 vision of inclusive growth and social equity.
