India Hosts First World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Event Boosting Local Track and Field Scene

India will host a World Athletics Continental Tour event for the first time, a Silver Level competition slated for 2026, marking the country's debut on the global tour circuit and bringing an international athletics meet to an Indian venue.

World Athletics designed the Continental Tour to supplement the main Diamond League, offering athletes additional ranking points and prize opportunities, and the inclusion of an Indian leg expands the geographic reach of the series into South Asia.

The competition will feature a range of track and field disciplines, drawing participants from multiple nations, and provides Indian sprinters, jumpers and throwers a platform to compete against higher‑ranked peers without traveling abroad.
