Reserve Bank of India Holds Repo Rate Unchanged as GDP Outlook Improves
Reserve Bank of India kept its repo rate unchanged at the current level, reinforcing a cautious monetary stance as recent inflation data showed modest easing but remained above the bank’s medium‑term target and financial stability.
GDP Outlook in the policy brief turned more optimistic, with the RBI projecting a higher growth rate for the next fiscal year, citing improved export demand and a gradual pick‑up in private consumption.
Shaktikanta Das said the central bank will wait for clearer inflation signals before any rate change, emphasizing that price stability remains the top priority and that policy decisions will be data‑driven.
RBI launched a set of key surveys aimed at gathering input from businesses and households across manufacturing, services and credit markets, intending to refine future monetary policy based on real‑time economic feedback.
