IIT Madras Wadhwani School Launches Studio to Convert AI Research Into Startups

IIT Madras Wadhwani School announced a dedicated studio, created in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation, to transform its artificial‑intelligence research projects into commercial startups, marking a new step for the institute’s entrepreneurship push.

The studio will offer lab space, prototyping tools, and mentorship to faculty and student teams working on data‑science, computer‑vision, and natural‑language processing projects, linking academic output directly with market‑ready product development, including access to high‑performance computing clusters.

Wadhwani Foundation will provide up to $5 million in seed funding and industry connections, aiming to accelerate the creation of viable AI‑driven companies from campus research and reduce time to market.
