India Boosts Olympic 2028 Campaign With ₹84 Lakh Per Athlete Funding and Ten New Training Centres

India is finalising its preparation plan for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, focusing on youth talent, infrastructure upgrades, and a coordinated talent‑identification program that will run through 2027.

Athletes from the Gen‑Z cohort will receive targeted support, with the Olympic committee earmarking ₹84 lakh per competitor to cover training, equipment, international exposure, and sports‑science services such as nutrition and physiotherapy.

Training Centres across the country have been expanded, ten new high‑performance hubs opened in cities such as Hyderabad, Kochi and Jalandhar, each equipped with world‑class tracks, Olympic‑size swimming pools, strength labs and on‑site sports‑medicine units to monitor athlete health.

Budget allocations total roughly ₹1,200 crore for the Olympic cycle, directing funds to coaching staff, overseas competition trips, and technology‑driven performance analysis, with the goal of boosting India’s medal prospects in eight targeted disciplines where 126 athletes are slated to compete.
