Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Links Over 90 Crore Health IDs Advancing Paperless Care

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has linked more than 90 crore unique health IDs (ABHA) nationwide, creating a paperless ecosystem that lets patients access records, prescriptions, and lab reports digitally for all citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ABDM in a ceremony in New Delhi, emphasizing that digital health will reduce paperwork, improve service speed, and support the broader Ayushman Bharat goal of universal health coverage.

Health IDs now serve as a single authentication token for doctors, labs, and pharmacies, enabling real‑time data sharing across public and private providers and helping the government monitor disease trends and resource use.

Government Cabinet is set to move a note extending ABDM funding and integration with state‑level digital health pilots such as Haryana’s initiative, signaling continued policy focus on scaling the platform through 2027.
