ISRO Launches Delay Highlights Government Clearance Bottleneck For Strategic Satellites

ISRO reports that the planned PSLV‑C62 launch, which would carry a mixed Indian‑foreign payload, is now on hold because the two domestic satellites have not received the required government clearance, leaving the launch vehicle idle on the Sriharikota pad.

Government officials say the pending security clearances for the NVS‑03 early‑warning radar and the GISAT‑1A high‑throughput communication satellite are essential for national defence and disaster‑response networks, and the hold hampers readiness.

ISRO has announced a shift in its launch‑vehicle manufacturing strategy, outsourcing key propulsion and avionics components to vetted private firms to accelerate production cycles and avoid future schedule bottlenecks like the current NVS‑03/GISAT‑1A delay.

Private Firms have been invited to run a new satellite launch centre at Thoothukudi on the southern coast, a step intended to diversify launch sites, boost annual lift‑off capacity and lessen dependence on the congested Sriharikota complex.
