Iran Advances Hormuz Strait Talks With Oman as United States Expresses Optimism

Iran says its talks with Oman over the strategic Hormuz Strait are advancing, describing the dialogue as “positive” and stressing that a diplomatic path is essential to defuse recent regional tensions and protect vital oil shipments.

Oman is providing a neutral venue in Muscat, proposing a framework that would allow limited naval monitoring while keeping commercial traffic open, and has invited regional partners to observe the process to build confidence.

United States officials voice optimism, saying a successful pact could lower the risk of shipping disruptions in the narrow strait, cut regional security expenditures, and align with the UN chief’s call to prevent escalation that “reverberates across borders and continents.”

Pakistan is urged by analysts to keep diplomatic channels open, as its role in supporting US‑Iran talks could help sustain momentum and reduce mistrust that has deepened between Tehran and Washington.
