World Athletics Launches Global Track Series to Expand Participation Across Continents

World Athletics announced a new track and field series aimed at boosting global participation, stating the initiative will create more competition opportunities for athletes worldwide. The federation highlighted that the series will complement existing World Athletics competitions and aim to reach underserved regions.

Series will roll out events in multiple regions, featuring standard track disciplines and inviting national federations to host meets, according to the organization’s plan. Each meet will include sprint, middle‑distance, jumps and throws, and will be open to both senior and junior athletes.

Athletes from emerging nations are expected to benefit, with the series providing exposure and pathways to major championships, the federation said. Officials expect the exposure to improve qualification chances for athletes seeking entry to the World Championships and Olympic Games.

Organizers plan to schedule the inaugural season within the next year, targeting increased audience engagement and sponsorship growth. Sponsorship packages will be offered to global brands, and broadcast partners are being negotiated to stream events live.
