Meta Introduces AI Labels on Instagram to Flag Generated Content

Meta announced AI labels for Instagram, designed to identify posts created with artificial intelligence and to give users clear notice, continuing the company’s transparency push after earlier policy updates.

Instagram will display a small overlay label beneath any post flagged as AI‑generated, visible in both the main feed and user profiles, so viewers can instantly see the content’s origin.

Boot Camp Digital reported the update in its August 2026 Digital News roundup, noting that Instagram’s AI label rollout was part of a broader set of new features and changes announced for the platform this year.

Users can expect the labels to appear across feed, explore and profile sections, with a phased rollout beginning later this year; Meta says the move should aid content moderation and bolster advertiser confidence in brand safety.
