IFHC and Ekthar Forge Conservation Partnerships at ADIHEX 2026 to Protect African Wildlife

IFHC signed a strategic agreement with Ekthar during the African Development Investment and Health Expo (ADIHEX) in Nairobi, pledging joint efforts on habitat restoration, anti‑poaching patrols and data sharing to strengthen wildlife protection across the continent.

Ekthar will channel $15 million over three years into community‑based anti‑poaching programs, training 5,000 local rangers, launching wildlife‑friendly agriculture projects and providing micro‑loans to families in high‑risk zones to reduce reliance on illegal hunting.

Partnership targets the creation of a 1,200‑kilometre biodiversity corridor linking protected areas in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with a goal of boosting tiger, elephant and rhinoceros numbers by 20 percent by 2030, supported by $40 million from international donors.

Stakeholders from ministries, NGOs and local communities praised the deal, with WWF Kenya director Jane Mwangi noting it “sets a new benchmark for collaborative financing,” and committing to monitor progress through satellite imaging and annual field surveys.
