IIT Delhi Scholar Dies After 46 Days in AIIMS Care, Suicide Probe Launched
IIT Delhi Scholar was a postgraduate student at IIT Delhi, discovered unconscious at his rented accommodation, was rushed to a local clinic before being transferred to AIIMS, where he remained under intensive care for 46 days before his death was confirmed.
AIIMS released a statement confirming the scholar’s death after a prolonged stay, noting that despite multiple interventions, his condition did not improve, and the hospital forwarded the case file to the police for further inquiry.
Police have opened an abetment of suicide investigation, filing a formal case that suggests possible external pressure or influence, and have begun questioning friends, roommates, and faculty members to determine any contributing factors.
University Officials have been informed of the investigation outcome and are reportedly reviewing existing mental health and safety protocols to better support students, though no specific policy changes have been announced yet.
