Delhi Unveils Seven-Month Pollution Plan Amid Record Smog and AQI 300 Levels

Delhi schools across the capital, Noida and Ghaziabad were ordered to close as dense smog settled, with the real‑time AQI climbing to 300, a level classified as hazardous for public health and visibility dropped below 100 meters.

National Capital Region officials announced a seven‑month pollution control plan aimed at curbing winter smog, marking the first coordinated effort to address air quality across Delhi, NCR and surrounding districts, including temporary bans on diesel generators.

Air Quality Index monitors from AQICN and aqi.in reported sustained PM2.5 concentrations above 200 µg/m³, keeping the AQI in the severe range for several consecutive days and triggering health alerts and the city issued amber warnings.

Health officials warned residents, especially children and the elderly, to limit outdoor activity, use masks and keep windows closed, citing increased risk of respiratory problems during the prolonged smog episode and advised use of air purifiers indoors.
