Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Reaches 90 Crore Health IDs Expands West Bengal Care

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission – the government announced that 90 crore ABHA health IDs have been created, a record size for any digital health system, and that e‑KYC verification is now mandatory for new card holders before the upcoming deadline.

National Health Authority – says the ABHA IDs connect patients to more than 1,850 public and private hospitals in West Bengal, allowing instant access to medical records, prescriptions, and insurance claims through a single digital card.

West Bengal – in the first month after the rollout, over 50,000 residents used the digital health card, benefitting from nine listed advantages such as free diagnostics and cashless payments, while many still make common mistakes like not updating personal details.

Policy Makers – warn that low private‑sector participation, highlighted by similar issues in Haryana, could slow full integration of the mission despite its role in achieving universal health coverage.
