Delhi Unveils 2026 Electric Vehicle Policy Offering ₹1 Lakh Scrappage Incentive

Delhi Government rolled out the 2026 Electric Vehicle policy to reshape city transport, offering purchase subsidies, allocating funds for public charging stations, and setting a target to lift the electric vehicle share on Delhi roads as global EV sales continue to rise in 2026.

Scrappage Incentive provides a flat ₹1 lakh rebate to owners who retire gasoline or diesel cars and register an electric replacement, a measure aimed at speeding vehicle turnover and reducing urban emissions, and is highlighted in the Press Information Bureau’s “Wheels of Change” green mobility push.

Industry Analysts cited the Press Information Bureau’s “Wheels of Change” note, saying the policy aligns with national green mobility goals and mirrors global trends of rising EV sales, but warned that expanding charging networks and affordable vehicle options are still essential for mass adoption.
