DRDO Pune Develops Indigenous STANAG‑6 Armour Panels for Next Generation Vehicles
DRDO says the agency has completed development of an indigenous STANAG‑6 compliant armour panel, designed to replace imported solutions for Indian armed forces, and aligns with DRDO's push for homegrown defence tech.
Pune testing range conducted live fire trials, confirming the panel meets NATO STANAG‑6 ballistic standards, withstanding standard NATO ballistic threats while keeping weight within design limits, demonstrating readiness for field deployment.
Armour panels are slated for integration into next‑generation infantry fighting vehicles and tactical trucks, expected to enter production at DRDO‑linked factories by next fiscal year, reducing procurement costs and dependence on foreign suppliers, and will be fitted onto upcoming infantry fighting vehicles and tactical trucks.
DRDO's showcase titled 'From Radars to Missiles' presented a suite of cutting‑edge indigenous technologies, with the STANAG‑6 armour panel highlighted as a key component to boost combat readiness and reduce reliance on imported protection systems.
