Khelo India Scheme now includes increased funding for sports infrastructure, upgraded training centers, and a new talent‑identification program aimed at boosting grassroots participation, with particular focus on building modern facilities in Tier‑2 cities and using school‑level competitions to spot promising talent.

Olympic Committee released India’s preparation roadmap for the 2028 Summer Games, emphasizing early talent scouting, high‑performance coaching and exposure to international competitions, and outlining partnerships with foreign training institutes and scheduled participation in Asian Games and World Championships as key qualifiers.

Athletes and state sports bodies expect the combined reforms to raise India’s medal chances, with officials citing the need for systematic support from school level to elite training, and highlighting target sports such as athletics, shooting, wrestling and badminton for stronger performance.
