India’s Pharmaceutical Exports Grow 6.8 Percent in Q1 FY27 Amid Rising Global Demand
India reported a 6.8% increase in pharmaceutical export value for Q1 FY27, with overseas orders climbing across Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia, according to the latest trade statistics released by the government.
Pharma Exports hit $30 billion in FY25, a rise of more than 125% over the previous nine years, underscoring India's emergence as the world’s pharmacy and its expanding footprint in high‑value drug markets.
Global Buyers continue to place large orders despite recent U.S. tariff proposals, with analysts noting that the 100% duty threat has so far limited effect on shipment volumes and pricing for Indian manufacturers.
Industry Analysts say the sector’s pivot toward specialty medicines and higher‑margin products is cushioning export growth, as generic drug pricing pressures intensify and companies like Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy’s focus on niche therapies.
